We are pleased to invite you to Steyer’s next virtual Consultant Spotlight featuring another talented colleague in our orbit, Alex Bernson: a skilled writer, marketer, and project manager based in Seattle. Alex blends his decades of technical fluency with a keen editorial eye to ensure smooth project experiences and the delivery of exemplary content to our clients.

Prior to working at Steyer, he also spent 15 years working in the specialty coffee industry, including managing and opening coffee bars on both coasts; helping grow the blog Sprudge.com into a go-to global news source as its first Managing Editor; and directing brand and marketing for the Specialty Coffee Association’s portfolio of global events, including the World Barista Championships, Re:co Symposium, and the Specialty Coffee Expo.

Given his expertise in all things coffee and his love of helping people deepen their enjoyment of coffee (however they choose to drink it!), Alex will walk us through coffee’s journey from cherry on a tree to brew in your cup, looking at the fundamentals of coffee farming and the international coffee trade, the basic chemistry of roasting and brewing, and the easiest techniques for brewing better coffee yourself. There will be time to ask questions and hear expert suggestions around how to improve your coffee experience, however you choose to consume it!
